The takeaway for anyone who has lived here more than a season: Aventura in 2026 is no longer a mall with a city attached. It is a set of three overlapping loops, and the mall is only one of them.
The Abbey Is Doing What the Mall Used to Do
For years, "let's eat in Aventura" meant walking the interior food court or booking a mall-anchor steakhouse. The open-air pocket now branded The Abbey at Aventura has changed that default. It sits on the perimeter of the property, reads more like a small district than a wing, and has been absorbing openings that would once have gone inside.

- JOEY Aventura, a two-level indoor room with a large patio, has become the reliable long-lunch address.
- JARANA, the Peruvian and pisco bar concept, runs lunch and dinner daily with Sunday brunch and can privately host groups from seven to well over one hundred.
- Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar held its grand opening on April 8, 2026, giving the Abbey side an all-day café that was missing from the map.

The Circle, at the Hours Locals Actually Use It
Nobody who runs it calls it the Don Soffer Exercise Trail. Locals call it The Circle, and its usable geometry is unchanged: a 3.1-mile paved loop around the Turnberry golf course, lit twenty-four hours, with benches, water fountains, and emergency call poles. - Before 8:00 a.m. the trail is quiet enough that regulars pace off the palm shadows for interval work. This is the window worth protecting through August.
- Between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. it becomes the stroller and dog crowd. Leash length is capped at six feet.
- After sunset, the lighting holds up on the east and south arcs. The northwest section along Country Club Drive has more traffic noise and a few patches of pavement wear that regulars route around.
Parking behind Aventura Mall near Macy's is the standing meetup point. If your building sits on the west side of the Circle, you are within a five-minute walk of Tidal Cove Waterpark, which is why the trail-plus-slide-tower routine has become a viable Saturday for families that never leave the neighborhood.
Founders Park and the Waterways Rhythm
City parks are the other loop, and the summer hours matter. Founders Park, Peace Park, and Veterans Park operate daily except Tuesdays, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Waterways Park runs afternoons on weekdays and full days on weekends. The southern half of Founders, the Bayside section, is the underused half. Landscaped walkways trace the Intracoastal, and the Community Green Garden sits on the same footprint.
